Arnold Peter Elected to the Board of Directors of The South Asian Studies Association (SASA)

Arnold Peter, entertainment industry attorney and Managing Partner at Peter Law Group, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the South Asian Studies Association (SASA). Now in its second decade, SASA is a California based amalgam of South Asia focused international scholars, academicians, civic and business leaders.

In announcing Mr. Peter’s election, SASA Chairman of the Board & CEO, Ken Silverman stated, “In recognition of Arnold’s vast experience and record of service to the South Asian legal, business, and cultural communities, we are honored to welcome him to SASA’s Board.  I have known and worked with Arnold for well over a decade, on multiple initiatives, and I am delighted that he has graciously agreed to share his time and talents on behalf of SASA.”

Mr. Peter stated, “I very much look forward to supporting SASA as it furthers its mission to highlight and expand the critical field of South Asian studies within universities globally, as well as within the wider world. It is vital that more than 5,000 years of this region’s achievement, spanning governance, religions, science, culture, the arts, and so much more – and all of which very robustly continue to this day – need to be acknowledged, studied, and understood.”

Mr. Peter will actively contribute to the planning and presentation of the SASA 2018 Conference, on March 23-25, 2018, which will again be held at Claremont McKenna College, in Claremont, California, which also hosted SASA’s very successful 2017 conference.

About the South Asian Studies Association:  SASA (www.sasia.org) is a California 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation founded in 2006. It has hosted annual South Asia conferences at universities across the US, in India, and in Russia, it publishes scholarly books and journals, and it annually bestows honors to individuals who have contributed significantly to the field of South Asian studies. Its Board of Directors includes prominent academic, business, and civic leaders from the US, South Asia, and Europe.
